Dear Edward Rivers, and Kelly Garcia,

First, let me applaud the efforts that your offices have made to keep my
family and all Iowans safe in these trying times. As a member of the
business community, we will do whatever it takes to make sure our
customers are safe.

In a press release dated 03/17/2020 Governor Reynolds announced the
issuance of a Proclamation of Disaster Emergency which included the
closing of all motion picture theaters in Iowa. In an abundance of caution,
and wanting to follow the most strict interpretation of the proclamation
we have delayed the planned spring opening of our outdoor drive-in
movie theater.

Since the announced closings of most public gatherings, a number of
Iowans, small businesses, and religious organizations have reached out to
Blue Grass Drive-In to urge our swift opening.

As such I am writing to you today for clarification and guidance regarding
the ban on motion picture theaters application to drive-in movie
theaters. We would like to find a way to open the drive-in to our
community including any needed adjustments such as closing our
concessions, selling tickets online, offering free shows, mandating people
to stay in their cars, etc…

We will continue to delay our opening until we receive clarification from
Iowa and Scott County public health officials.

Randy Lorenz
